WELCOME TO MAZATLAN, MEXICO

Located on Mexico’s beautiful west coast, Mazatlán sits at the base of the Sierra Madre Mountains, directly across from the tip of the Baja peninsula.

Known as the diamond of the Mexican Riviera, Mazatlán’s magnificent scenery is outdone only by the area’s list of never-ending activities and the incredibly festive atmosphere that pervades everything in sight. For obvious reasons, this has made it one of the country’s most popular leisure vacation spots.

What first-time visitors may not realize about Mazatlán, though, is its history as a bustling seaport LONG before it became a popular vacation destination. This duality provides a certain independence from the tourism industry, making this travel stop unique by anyone’s standards.

According to local historians, Mazatlán only discovered within the past 50 years that their miles of beautiful sand beaches would be of interest to visitors. Hotels in the area were originally developed primarily for the lodging of American and Canadian sports fishermen.

This split personality can be seen to this day, with Mazatlán effectively being two cities. Visitors will tend to congregate in the northern Golden Zone (Zona Dorada), while those coming to town for business will focus in the south (El Centro). Travel between the two centres is also a pleasure as one drives down Avenue Del Mar – an incredibly scenic beach-front avenue. No matter whether you’re coming to Mexico for business or for pleasure, though, this is one stop you’ve GOT to have on your itinerary.
